25th Anniversary of NEGST

We are very excited to be part of a short term mission team that is traveling to NEGST January 18-February 1, 2009. We will be teaching computer classes to the graduate students at NEGST, their families, faculty, and staff. Since 2009 is the 25th anniversary of NEGST beginning, we are excited to be one of the first short term teams to participate in such an historic event.

This is also a historic moment for our team. While in Kenya, the United States will have an inauguration of President Elect Barrack Obama. Barrack is a son of a Kenyan father and his mother is from Kansas, my home state and where Leona Grigsby, one of our team members lives.

One of my customers is DC Government, so I am busy preparing for this historical event that will occur on January 20th in Washington DC. I am very glad that I already have plans to be in Kenya so I will not have to deal with the records crowds expected for that event. I am grateful for my team members that will be helping with all the Information Technology details while I am in Kenya working on "kingdom business".

In a somewhat ironic twist, we were planning to do this trip a year ago, when our short term trip was delayed by the Kenya election violence that was a result of a disputed election. Kenya was faced with many challenges as they heal from that confusion and chaos. It is interesting to note how the transfer of power is much easier in the United States, which is a sign of a more mature democracy.
